The short version
Floating Head does not collect, store, or transmit any of your data. Your camera feed stays entirely on your device.
Camera access
Floating Head requires access to your Mac's camera to display a live video feed in a floating window. The camera feed is rendered locally using macOS AVFoundation and is never recorded, stored, or sent anywhere. When you use Continuity Camera with your iPhone, the same applies — the feed stays on your device.
Data collection
Floating Head collects no data whatsoever. Specifically:
- No personal information
- No usage analytics or telemetry
- No crash reports
- No cookies or tracking
- No network requests
Local storage
Your preferences (window size, shape, border color, mirror mode, etc.) are saved locally on your Mac using macOS UserDefaults. This data never leaves your device.
Third-party services
Floating Head uses no third-party services, SDKs, or frameworks. It is built entirely with Apple's native frameworks (SwiftUI, AppKit, AVFoundation).
Website
The Floating Head website at floatinghead.app uses Simple Analytics, a privacy-friendly analytics service. It does not use cookies and does not collect personal data. The "Try it" camera demo on the homepage runs entirely in your browser — no video data is transmitted.
Children's privacy
Since Floating Head collects no data, there are no special concerns regarding children's privacy.
